Something Must Die for Something Else to Live

ThePocketface's Blog

In my post Ego-The False Self, I talked about how people can create a whole identity around items they own, positions they are in, and patterns of thought that they have. This is a more comprehensive and in depth exploration of that idea.

Every gain has its price.

If there is one universal principle of life, it is that one can never truly gain without first giving something in its exchange. If someone wants to earn substantial sums of money, they must find a way to be able to give substantial value to their customer’s life. If someone wants a muscle bound body, they must pay the price of discipline and rigorous exercise (or possibly the medical price that comes from steroid abuse). It’s simple. Examples of this can be seen in abundance all around us.

This is as true as 2 and 2 makes 4.

Toxic people want to fight with you. They want you to fight back. They want you to retaliate to their threats and complaints and sob stories. Do not co-operate with them.

Your toxic friends (includes toxic family, toxic co-workers) want to fight you and everyone else in your life because they are not fighting for their dreams.

If you are married to a toxic spouse, consider praying about divorce – the bible verse about ‘do not divorce’ and ‘God hates divorce’ are for those marriages in which God is present. If God is not in your marriage, why would He tell you to stay in a GODLESS MARRIAGE?

Read bible verses about Jesus saying to pluck out your eye, hand or foot if they cause you to sin or stumble.

Toxic people are an obstacle – between you and God; between you and your dreams; between you and your ideal weight; between you and your ideal love story.

God cannot really bless you if you are in a close relationship with a toxic person. “That is a bold claim”, you might say.

Well, God revealed it to me through my experiences.

God revealed how my previously closerelationship with my toxic narcissistic mum delayed me finding my job and me meeting the guy God had picked for me.

That is how serious toxic relationships are to God.

Toxic people poison your mind – eventually slowly, you too become toxic.

Read Psalm 1.

TD Jakes used the above Psalm to say the point I made about toxic people polluting your mind.

You can’t change toxic people no matter how much you pray. Because they do not want to change.

A desert is always a desert, no matter how hard you pray for it to change into a sea.

Divine Friends – Part 3

Isolation can kill your destiny. Isolating yourself from people once you are in your promised land, can take you back to egypt. There is only one other thing that can have this same effect on you – being with the wrong people.

Isolation is better than being with the wrong people. But , don’t fool yourself – God will always bring the right people into your life. It might be that you are not recognizing them as they are not exactly packaged as you would like them to.

Victoria Osteen wrote about how when her son Jonathan needed a friend , God brought someone older in his life. Victoria was praying for a friend for her son and she assumed it would be someone who is of his age. But, God knows who to use to impart into our lives what we need, not what we ‘think’ we need.

Read Victoria’s book – ‘Love your life’ and also her blog -google her name and you will find it. Both are full of wisdom

His Call Remains (Written By: Joel Osteen)

“For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.”
(Romans 11:29, NLT)

When you think about your future, what do you see in your mind’s eye? Maybe at one time you were excited about your life—you had big goals and big dreams, but you went through some disappointments or life didn’t turn out the way you planned and now you’ve just settled where you are. Understand, God’s plan for your life didn’t go away just because you had some disappointments and setbacks or because somebody treated you unfairly. God didn’t write you off just because you made some poor decisions. No, He knew every mistake you’d ever make; He knew every person who would wrong you, and He still called you. He still designed a perfect plan for your life. No matter what’s happened in your past, God’s plan for your good remains. He still…

Dream Boldly (Written By: Joel Osteen)

Today’s Scripture:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go
Joshua 1:9, NIV.

Today’s Word:
When you look out into your future, what do you see? What are the dreams and desires that you hold close to your heart?

So many people start with bold dreams, but then opposition comes. Life doesn’t turn out the way they planned. They lose a loved one or encounter difficulty they didn’t anticipate. Today, if that’s you, I want to remind you that the Creator of the universe designed you with specific gifts and talents that no one else has. He has you on this planet for a specific purpose. When you commit your life to Him, He promises to be with you wherever you go. Even though some things in life may…

You are Closer than You Think (Written By: Joel Osteen)

Don’t let others discourage you from seeing your miracle.

…He said to the paralytic, ‘I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.’ Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, ‘We never saw anything like this!’
Mark 2:10-12, NKJV.

In Mark chapter two, the Bible talks about a man who was paralyzed. He heard that Jesus was in town teaching at another house, and the man knew that Jesus could heal him. The paralyzed man convinced four of his friends to carry him on his bed to where Jesus was. When they arrived, the house was so packed that they couldn’t get in. Instead of just giving up and going home, the man was so determined that he convinced his friends to climb up on the roof, cut a hole in…

God is Looking for You (Posted By: Joel Osteen)

In John chapter 9, Jesus was traveling through a village. He saw a man on the side of the road who was blind. The man didn’t call out to Jesus. He wasn’t like blind Bartimaeus who said, “Please Jesus, have mercy and heal me.” This man was just quietly sitting there, and Jesus went to him.

Now throughout the scripture, there are examples where people used their faith, reached out to God and received their miracle. The woman with the issue of blood fought her way through the crowd, touched the edge of Jesus’ robe, and she was instantly made whole. The lepers cried out, “Jesus, please heal us.” Jesus healed them. An army captain came and said, “Jesus, if You’ll just speak the Word, my little daughter at home that’s so sick will be healed.” Jesus spoke and the daughter was well. These people all initiated…
